In order to test and optimize the developed diagnostics algorithms, we designed and built a novel fault simulator machine that allows us to emulate a variety of parametric and model structural faults with its configurable design.

The goal was to build a system that is versatile enough to be able to exhibit various kinds of nonlinearities that appear in practical real systems, and simple enough to be able to be modeled, predicted, controlled and adjusted for desired performances in the lab environment.

This setup can become a standard fault simulator which can be used by other researchers to investigate advanced diagnostics algorithms.
