Vibration & Rotor Dynamics

This picture shows the Machinery Fault Simulator, which is designed to analyze and help determine the common signature of a machine fault through controlled experimentation. It is a modular, simple, and robust rotor rig designed to fit on a desk. Its modular design allows for the interchangeability of parts and the introduction of single or multiple faults in a controlled manner.

This picture shows the Nonlinear Dynamic Fault Simulator. Our research has been focused on developing algorithms for diagnostics of nonlinear systems, where faults can be described as changes in the parameters of such a system. For this purpose, a novel fault simulator was designed and fabricated in-house. It incorporates various nonlinearities that appear in practical real systems and are simple enough to be modeled, predicted, controlled, and adjusted for desired performances in the laboratory environment.
